Dateline Louisville, KY - DFFL 2001 Playoffs: Spoelker Brothers Come Down With Finger Disease. After riding roughshod over the rest of the league during the regular season, the Ill-tempered SeaBass and the Blitzkrieg Bandits must have had some water or something at Finger headquarters and get run out of the playoffs in the first round. Both were heavily favored, and both didn't even get close. The Coronas make it 2 in a row for the number 8 seed, getting 2 scores from Bubba Franks and 2 from Joe Horn to seal the win. Jay "touchy" Feely was huge for the SeaBass, but it wasn't enough. The Slayers live up to number 2 seed status with a convincing win over the Federals. The Federals could only "muster" 9 points, while the Slayers used Faulk and Alexander to post 24 just between the 2 of them. Next season, Faulk's 250 yard 2 score performance will be worth 22 all by its lonesome, so you can see the value Faulk has in Fantasy Football. A hard lesson learned by a certain team named for parts of the hand.
The consensus around the USPO was that all the Slayers had to do was get back in and they'd have a good shot at repeating. With the Bass and Bandits out of the way, look out. The Hammers will be tasked with stopping the Slayers next by virtue of a win over the A's, who also haven't tasted any playoff success in 2 seasons. Minnesota's disappearance this weekend hurt the A's badly. The Gunmen use 15 from Mike Hollis and 9 from Brett Favre to upend the Bandits. No love from Curtis Martin kept the Bandits from mounting the late comeback. Over in the Toilet Bowl, Fingers and Generals win, the Generals with a really big game from Kordell Stewart. I wasn't sure about benching McNabb, but with Stewart against the Lions, the Generals swallowed home town pride and put in the right guy.
