PUNCHEY, GENERALS, WAHOOS STREAK TO 2-0, CORONAS, FINGERS STUMBLE
Back to reality this week, only 2 teams break 30. Let's start with the teams
that moved to 2-0. Punchey used the Jags' running attack to hold off a
determined Federal assault. Punchey is also the total points leader so far. This
drops a good Federal squad to 0-2, causing some division in the encampment along
the James River. General McClellan is said to be quite upset with General
Burnside. The Wahoos ride 4 more scores from Drew Bledsoe and a touchdown from
surprise starter Amdre Reed to a big win over the Badfingers. The Fingers are
now searching for some consistent scoring from someone other than Terrell Davis.
The Generals score a win over division rival C4 to move to 2-0. Jason Elam
provided the margin here. When asked about this week's collapse after the 40
point effort last week, C4 Offensive Coordinator Cameron Ferguson had this to
say: "Mama, dada, lalalalala." Which makes about as much sense as any coach's
soundbite ever has. At least he didn't say "We need to have some guys step up
this week." The Norsemen get some respect with a big home opener win over the
Slayers. The Cowboy Troika didn't provide the spark the Slayers needed to
overcome the loss of Jerry Rice. Mike Hollis was the truth for the Horn Heads,
putting up 16 huge points. Finally, the much hyped Coronas put up a
baseball-like 4 points to fall to the Tigers. The Tigers didn't need Eddie
George's 6 to smoke the Coronas. Hey, what's that smell? It should be a fine
Dominican hand rolled corona, but instead it is a stinky old White Owl from
1974. Favre drops back, swallows a quick Vicadin, heaves it down field to a wide
